It’s Spring Break, and with my son scheduled to be off for one week, I’m looking for engaging activities that will allow us to spend time together. One of my best discoveries has been Lowe’s Build & Grow Clinics. Geared towards children in grades 2-5, the hour-long clinics feature a special wooden building project that can be taken home.
The clinics are free to the public and include an apron, goggles, a certificate, a patch, and the project. With The Croods opening in theaters nationwide this Spring, Lowe’s has partnered with DreamWorks to offer two specially-themed projects including The Croods: Piranhakeet Chomper and THE CROODS: Planter. The free clinics will take place on March 23rd and April 13th, 2013 at 10 am.
As I mentioned above, our children have participated in a number of the clinics, and despite the fact that they’re a bit younger than the recommended age, they’ve enjoyed each one. I really appreciate the fact that the clinics help children with fine motor skills while encouraging creativity. My husband and I typically tag team and help each of them with the hammering and such. The activities are relatively easy and the kids have such a sense of accomplishment when they complete their project and receive the certificate of completion and badge. I’ve seen many children with vests completely filled with badges from previous clinics.
Be sure to sign up on the website since the themed clinics can book out in some cities.
The Croods is now in theaters nationwide.
