LA Moms Celebrate Pregnancy Awareness Month *Giveaway*

People often say that the reason a woman goes on to have a second child is that they forget the experience of pregnancy and childbirth.  I don’t necessarily believe that and in fact, I think the opposite is true.  I remember very specific details about that moment when I found out I was pregnant with my son…his first cry…our first look into each other’s eyes.  Pregnancy and childbirth is a joyous, life-changing, time in a woman’s life and all month long, we’re celebrating and raising awareness to empower and educate women.

Last week, co-founders Anna Getty and Alisa Donner kicked off the 5th anniversary of Pregnancy Awareness Month at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles, California.  The organization is dedicated to educating and empowering women during pregnancy with a focus on nutrition, wellness, nurturing, support and community. During the launch event, moms and moms-to-be were pampered, styled, educated, gifted, and celebrated.  Some of the experts featured during the panel discussions included Dr. Alan Greene, Christopher Gavigan, Abby Epstein, and Ricki Lake.  Lisa Loeb provided musical entertainment for the moms while the kids crafted, played, and listened to music in the Young Children’s Activity Area, courtesy of Ladybug Jane.  Moms and moms-to-be were also treated to mini massages and makeup applications at the Mommy Pampering Spa courtesy of Belly Sprout and style expert and author Amy Tara Koch hosted the Bump It Up Style lounge.

Initially, the organization launched with a single, free event for expectant and new moms.  Today, there are over 20 events held across the country in celebration of moms during the month of May.

  3. Not a mom yet, but trying and will know in a few days. hehe It’s great to hear that there is a pregnancy awareness month. I have been trying to find out about conventions geared toward moms particularly ones pregnant for the first time, but I can’t seem to find any. I would just love to be exposed to new products to consider.

  89. I learned that this travel cart would be really helpful with transporting the car seat in the airport. Never new I could just clip the car seat on this contraption and just go.
