If you’ve met me in person, or seen photographs, you may not know that my hair is naturally curly. Before I had children, I spent a lot of time straightening my thick, curly, somewhat unruly hair. I really love the way it looks when I have the time to blow-dry and straighten it properly. These days, I style and straighten when I have time and typically only when I’m going “out.”
I recently started using NuMe’s Couture Flat Iron to straighten my hair. NuMe Professional Styling Tools is a European brand (and you know how much I love all-things European) that launched in the US earlier this year and offers you the tools you need to create beautiful, stylish looks. Their line includes flat irons, curling wands, blow dryers, hair care products, accessories, and more.
One of the very first things I noticed about the brand is it’s sense of style. The Couture Flat Iron comes in one of 3 vibrant colors (I chose purple) and is quite attractive looking. It’s lightweight and compact which makes it easy to travel with, although I do wish it came with a heat-resistant travel case.
The flat iron itself features a dial to adjust the temperature according to the type of hair you are attempting to straighten and tame. I personally have to use the highest setting since my hair is very thick, curly, and frizzy. Fortunately, the flat iron’s plates are ceramic to protect hair from heat damage and dryness.
Once you’ve determined the heat setting you need for your hair, it takes just a few minutes to heat up. Contrary to the name of the product, the flat iron can do more than just straighten hair. The storage case includes directions on achieving soft curls and waves, an inward or outward flip, and enhanced volume.
I have owned a number of different types of flat irons over the years and I will say that in my experience, I have not had much success achieving sleek, straight hair with flat irons that are not ceramic. With that being said, the Couture Flat Iron retails for $280 and is available through NuMe for $150 which is a great deal. You can learn more about how the Couture Flat Iron works on their website.

I too have curly hard to manage hair! I settle for wearing my hair in ponytail. I haven’t been to a salon in over a year. I agree I love the way my hair feels when it’s flat-ironed. I’d love to win if for no other to reason..to at least stop buying scrunchies! lol 🙂
