It’s been YEARS since I picked up a crayon or a marker to color, but earlier this week my children and I got creative with Crayola’s new Mess Free Color Wonder products. I should really color more often because it’s incredibly relaxing and therapeutic.
If you saw my DIY project this week, then you also saw the “art” my children created all over their toy box. Unfortunately, the toy box isn’t the only thing to undergo an artistic makeover from a toddler. For some reason, it’s much more fun to color on floors, walls, and furniture than it is on paper. Until now!
Crayola, a timeless brand that I personally grew up with, recently introduced a ton of fun new products perfectly timed for the warm Spring and Summer months. Color Wonder inspires children to be creative without boundaries! Very often, I set up a space on our indoor or outdoor table for my children to color so that if their paints or markers spill over onto another surface, I can easily clean it up. With these new Color Wonder markers and paints, I don’t have to worry about an unsuspecting toddler venturing into our living room to find a couch to “make pretty.”
So how does Crayola Color Wonder work?
Color Wonder includes special markers and paints with clear inks that work specifically on special paper. When a child colors on skin, furniture, or other surfaces, no color will be visible. I should mention that even though the paints won’t color surfaces or fabrics, they can get sticky on little hands. Fortunately, it washes off easily.
My children are both very “artsy” and can spend quite a bit of time coloring, so when I pulled out the kits we received, they immediately got to work! Many of the Color Wonder products feature well-known characters, so this is definitely an attractive draw for children. We received Looney Tunes, Hello Kitty, and Hot Wheels color pads, a hit with our kids. But what made these products special is the fact that they include glitter or metallic paper.
The paper itself is like magic for kids, and mine were fascinated as their favorite colors showed up on their pictures. For children who are still working on coloring within the lines, the combination of the paper and markers/paints makes it easy for children to create pictures that are colorful and beautiful.
Crayola offers both full size markers, which are ideal for children like my son who is mastering his fine motor skills, and mini markers, perfect for smaller hands like my daughter’s. Combined with the paper, these products make for plenty of mess-free fun.
One of the new ways we will be using Crayola Color Wonder this summer is on our family trips. Since we don’t have to worry about our children coloring their car seats, the airplane seats, or their clothes, we’ll be packing these kits with us to keep them entertained while we travel.
Also new this season is Crayola’s Washable Sidewalk Chalk. With bright, bold new colors and a formula that is 100% washable, children can turn their driveway into their own artistic canvas without limits.
Through the end of May, Crayola and Walmart have partnered to offer special pricing on all Color Wonder products. The Color Wonder Pads and Tools are just $4.97 and the kits are $6.97 and can be found in craft or stationary aisle at your local Walmart.
