Idina Menzel in New Broadway Musical If/Then

Friends and family members will tell you that I belabor nearly every decision I make…exhaustively at times. And yet, the question of “what if?” is one we’ve all asked repeatedly throughout our lives. What if I took that job (or didn’t?)? What if I stayed in LA instead of moving to Orange County? What if fear prevented me from taking the leap into freelance writing? Can one decision alter the course of your entire life is the theme explored throughout the original new musical, If/Then.

Starring Idina Menzel, the musical follows the story of Elizabeth, recently divorced and in search of a new beginning. Set in New York City, the parallel stories of Liz and Beth are depicted on-stage, engaging audiences in the two theoretical paths Elizabeth’s life could take.  As she begins her new life as a city planner in the city that offers seemingly unlimited possibilities, a single decision reshapes the course of Elizabeth’s life in a musical that explores the themes of destiny, fate, chance, and ultimately, choice.

If/Then features music by Tom Kitt and lyrics by Brian Yorkey and was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Original Score. The musical also won several Broadway.com Audience Awards.

If/Then debuts at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts January 19-24, 2016. Single tickets start at $25 and can be purchased online, in-person or via phone.
