My son has been hopping with excitement over Universal Pictures’ latest Easter-themed release. Hop, the new live-action/CG-animated comedy stars the voice talent of Russell Brand, who plays the teen son of the infamous Easter Bunny. Much to everyone’s surprise, E.B. (aka Easter Bunny…hehe) would rather march to the beat of his own drum…literally. Here is a short synopsis from the site:
Blending state of the art animation with live action, Hop is a comedy about E.B., the teenage son of the Easter Bunny. On the eve of taking over the family business, E.B. leaves for Hollywood in pursuit of his dream of becoming a drummer. He encounters Fred, an out-of-work slacker with his own lofty goals, who accidentally hits E.B. with his car. Feigning injury, E.B. manipulates Fred into providing him shelter, and Fred finds himself with the world’s worst houseguest.
The film will appeal to a broad audience given it’s combination of live-action and CG animation. While my 3 1/2 year old son, likely didn’t absorb all of details surrounding the story, I know he still enjoyed it based on our subsequent conversations. The story and much of the humor is actually targeted towards older children and adults as opposed to toddlers and preschoolers.
The story combines humor, adventure, and an important life lesson about embracing your unique talents and gifts and following your passion and dreams.
