This is just a taste of the Orange County Fair. For 23 fun-filled days, locals and visitors can enjoy traditional but never uninteresting food, rides, exhibits, animals, music, and more. This year’s theme is Home Sweet Home, and for the past three years, we’ve made it a tradition to spend a weekend taking in all we can at the fair.
My foodie self can’t help but scope out the most interesting eats at the fair. Here are a few shots I managed to grab from fairgoers:

Once you’ve had your fill, I recommend taking a glance at your guide to plan your day. The entertainment changes daily and the fair offers a variety of free options.
This year, the fair will offer three venues for music and sports including The Hangar, the Action Sports Arena, and the Pacific Amphitheatre where the Toyota Summer Concert Series is being held. Note: Concert tickets include fair admission.
Some of my top picks for family entertainment include the Russel Brothers Circus, the petting zoo (there is one located near Kiddie Carnival off the Green Gate), and the Peking Acrobats at the Plaza Arts Stage.
New this year is the Let Freedom Ring Exhibit & Salute to Heroes which features pieces of steel beam from the World Trade Center. Additionally, there is a 4 minute video presentation with a fireworks and laser show outside The Hangar at 8:20 pm each day.
A day at the fair is incomplete without a ride on the ferris wheel! There is no shortage of carnival rides at the OC Fair, but if you have small children, I recommend heading to the Family Fair Way for rides targeting the preschool age.
The fair is a great place for kids to see and learn about animals so we always head to the Livestock area and take a walk through.
Overall, we had a lovely, memorable experience at the fair. With two small children, it’s impossible to see everything in one day, but fortunately, there are still several weeks left as the fair runs through August 12th.

WOW, I think I want that chocolate cupcake! This year, I’m looking forward to my daughter and the girls from her dance studio performing at the fair on the 11th. We’re planning on making a day of it. Would love to win!

We just moved to oc with our toddler and can’t wait to go to the fair! We’ve never been to anything like it and look forward to seeing his amazed face at all the fun things!

The OC Fair has been a family tradition for 25 years. I LOVE it! In fact, we’re heading down there this week!
