Hilton HHonors Celebrates Outstanding Little League Coaches *Giveaway*

When my four year old son isn’t in school, he’s outside running, jumping, climbing, and exploring. From the moment we introduced him to the concept of a “ball” as a toddler, he’s been fascinated with sports. Last year, he wasn’t old enough to join our community Little League team, so this summer we’re set to enroll him.

The benefits of sports for children is well-documented. In an age where technology dominates, parents must facilitate opportunities for children to spend a significant amount of time outdoors. Sports are a wonderful way for children to get active. But beyond physical activity, sports help children develop and refine their gross motor skills, and mastery and team play help facilitate positive self-esteem. Additionally, children who participate in sports are learning principles of discipline, cooperative play, teamwork, and good sportsmanship.

A positive, encouraging coach can make a significant difference in a child’s life. Very often a child’s coach recognizes potential and can help a child hone and refine his or her skills. That coach very often becomes a positive role model in a child’s life…someone he or she looks up to.

Hilton HHonors recognizes the significant positive role a Little League coach in a child’s life. To honor and celebrate our nation’s Little League coaches, Hilton HHonors recently launched its Little League HHonors Outstanding Coach contest. Through June 13th, parents and caregivers can nominate their favorite coach on the brand’s Facebook page by sharing stories and experiences of how he/she has positively influenced their child’s life.

Nominating a coach is easy, but parents/caregivers must be a Hilton HHonors member (joining is free and takes just a minute or two). On June 28th, 2012, five finalists will be announced. Both the chosen finalists and their nominators will receive a two-night stay at any Hilton Hotel worldwide. One grand prize winning coach will receive a trip for two to the Little League World Series in South Williamsport, Pennsylvania where he/she will be announced as the winner before throwing the ceremonial first pitch. He/she will also receive a five-night stay at any Hilton Hotel worldwide.

Hilton HHonors is the brand’s loyalty program and the official hotel sponsor of Little League Baseball and Softball. I think it’s wonderful that the brand recognizes this group of men and women who aren’t always recognized for the prominent role they play in a child’s life.

  14. When my son was in high school,the coach let him play even though he wasnt very good,,he hung with him an finally he got to play a lot more an was better,,an he loved being a part of the team

  39. My son enjoys learning how to play baseball. His coach is really patient and teaches him how to play correctly.

  66. My youngest son was always gettting encouragement from his baseball coach this year, as he was the youngest boy on the team.

  73. My son enjoys playing t-ball. He was nervous at the first practice but as soon as he walked in the coach said “hey, I really like your glove” and he’s been excited ever since.
