Last year, CineConcerts and Warner Bros. brought the world of Harry Potter to life in a stunning concert series complete with a symphony orchestra at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts. Inspired by J. K. Rowling’s best-selling series of fantasy novels, Harry Potter has become the second highest-grossing film series of all time. The films follow the story of Harry Potter’s quest to overcome his nemesis Lord Voldemort.
The Harry Potter Film Concert Series debuted with the original film, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, and will return this Spring with Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. The film follows the story of Harry Potter’s second year at Hogwarts as the Heir of Salazar Slytherin opens the Chamber of Secrets, unleashing a monster that frightens the school’s residents. During his time at Hogwarts, spiders talk, letters scold and Harry’s ability to speak to snakes turns his friends against him.
Danger and adventure await Harry and his friends as a bloody message is displayed on the wall announcing “The Chamber of Secrets has been opened.” Harry and his friends will have to summon their courage and use their magical abilities to save Hogwarts. The film’s score, which was nominated for a Grammy, features bewitching music, conjuring soaring motifs which propel the story forward.
During the Harry Potter Film Concert Series, the Pacific Symphony Orchestra will perform John Williams’ score from the film while it is projected in high-definition on a 40-foot screen. The live orchestra will perform, to picture, every note from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. Performances occur on May 12th at 7:30 pm and May 13th at 2:00 pm and 7:30 pm. Single tickets start at $39 and can be purchased online at SCFTA.org, via phone (714.556.2787), or at the Box Office (600 Town Center Drive, Costa Mesa, CA).
The Harry Potter Film Concert Series is scheduled to perform across the globe through 2018. For more information, visit HarryPotterInConcert.com.
