It’s hipper (is that a word? of course it’s a word!) and safer than text messaging and all the rage with celebs like Demi Lovato and Cody Simpson. Earlier this summer, Hallmark introduced Text Bands, which offers tweens and teens a fun and innovative way to communicate with their friends…no cell phone required.
These watch-like wrist bands feature a small texting module which enables the creation and sending of messages. Each Text Band stores up to 24, 10-character messages. Messages can be reviewed over and over and are only deleted if the wearer exceeds the 24 message storage limit.
I’m not really sure how I feel about kids and cell phones, and when that time comes, my husband and I will decide whether our children are mature and responsible enough to have one. But because we understand that tweens and teens thrive on communicating with their friends, Text Bands offer a positive, creative way to do this. As a parent, I appreciate the fact that they have a built-in bad word filter. Additionally, Hallmark created the Text Band Oath to encourage kids to wear and use their Text Bands to communicate and express themselves positively.
Once you turn the Text Band on and create your message, you can trade messages with others by fist bumping, high fiving, or handshaking. It should be noted that if you turn the Text Band off, all messages will be deleted. The Text Band starter kit comes with two button-cell batteries that are already installed for your convenience.
Available in a variety of colors and patterns, Text Bands are sold exclusively at Hallmark Gold Crown Stores and retail for $14.99. Additionally, interchangeable bands are available for $4.99.
Win It! TWO of you will win Text Band sets of your very own. Simply leave me a comment with one thing you like about Hallmark’s new Text Bands! Comments will close on September 21st at 11:59 PM PST.

I like that there are colors for boys and for girls.
My boys would have a great time with these. And colors for boys is rare to find in items like these.
