Green Me: Pacific Shaving Company

One of the things I don’t particularly enjoy is shaving.  I know we all have to do it (unless you live in Europe where you can go au natural), but it’s so time-consuming and messy!  Gone are the days of leisurely 20 minute showers (it’s also not very green of me to do so), so nicks and cuts pretty much go hand in hand with the 2 minute quick-shave!

pacificshavingcompanyI recently had the opportunity to try two products from Pacific Shaving Company…their All Natural Shaving Oil and Nick Stick.  I’ve seen these products at Whole Foods on one of my weekly shopping ventures but have never actually tried them.  I have to admit that when I first received the 1/2 once bottle of shaving oil, I was a little doubtful as to how effective it was going to be and a little nervous about cutting myself.  I have dark curly hair so the hair on my legs is not super thin like most women (TMI?).  So I followed the directions and used 6 drops to start with (the instructions say 5-7).  I rubbed the oil in and a faint whitish coating was the only evidence that I had actually placed anything on my skin.  I was able to attain a smooth shave without the usual irritation.  The oil has a faint citrus smell and left my skin feeling super soft and moisturized (don’t worry, it isn’t greasy).  Although the instructions say that 5-7 drops is sufficient, I felt I needed more to shave both legs.  My hubby used it too but he waited until he had a small forest growing on his face.  He said that he liked it but felt it would have worked better if he had not allowed his beard to grow out so much.  He liked the how his face felt “silky smooth.”

They say that good things come in small packages and that is truly the case with the All Natural Shaving Oil.  This “small but mighty” product will last for up to 100 shaves!  At only $6.95 it’s definitely worth it!  The All Natural Shaving Oil is free of parabens or phthalates and derived from essential oils including Tangerine Peel, Grapefruit Peel, Bergamot, and Aloe Vera. The product can also be used with an electric razor.

The All Natural Shaving Oil is also good for the environment. It takes up less space, energy consumption and carbon emissions in the supply chain.  The company plants a tree for every bottle of All Natural Shaving Oil sold and they’ve already elminated 20,000 pounds of shaving cream cans from landfills.

Next up, was the Nick Stick.  I always get nicks when I shave.  It doesn’t matter how new the razor is.  It might be my technique or my sensitive skin but nicks happen!  I used the Nick Stick on my legs and just like they promise, the bleeding stopped rather quickly.  It tingles when applied, but that is the result of the antiseptic Benzocaine. The Nick Stick contains vitamins A & E and Aloe and promotes healing while soothing irritated skin.  To use, simply dry the affected area and roll the Nick Stick on.  The Nick Stick can be purchased for $5.95.

Pacific Shaving Company stands by their products and will guarantee satisfaction with the All Natural Shaving Oil.  You can purchase both products at Whole Foods, CVS Pharmacy, and a number of retailers in your area.

Profuse thanks to Pacific Shaving Company and the Family Review Network for this review opportunity.
