I get excited about finding new things to do with my children. Last week, I told you about Lowe’s free Build and Grow Clinics, the latest which is planned for this Saturday, March 12th. The Home Depot also offers workshops, the theme of which is Build. Learn. Create. Once a month, children and parents can visit their local store to create projects including toolboxes, fire trucks, window birdhouses, and more. The goal of these workshops is to teach children do-it-yourself skills and tool safety while instilling a sense of accomplishment.
Last week, our little boy had an opportunity to a race car…not just any race car…The Home Depot race car! With help from the staff, my son nailed, glued, and decorated his car with stickers. After the kids finished their masterpieces, they raced them on a track set up at the store. My son had so. much. fun. And best of all, it was free!
Workshops are held on the first Saturday of the month and no pre-registration is required. Parents and children can just show up between 9 am and 12 pm, although I recommend getting there early! The next workshop will be held on Saturday, April 2nd from 9 am to 12 pm and kids will be making a planter/basket.
