I used to think that the sleeplessness and lack of time for myself was a season, confined to the infant/toddler stages of my children’s lives. “When they are a bit older I’ll work out…lose weight…catch up on my favorite episodes of Glee…read the novel I started during pregnancy…” It’s been five years, and those hours I spent nursing, rocking, and taking care of my children’s basic needs have been replaced with homework, baseball games, dress-up and a myriad of other appointments and activities.
The reality is that if I “wait” to take care of myself, it isn’t going to happen. That is why I decided at some point, that I was going to check my mommy guilt at the front door, and commit to making sure I was taking care of my physical and emotional health.
I love to read and try to keep abreast of the latest news, trends, and happenings both in our community and across the nation. One of the resources I have been using to access current events and topics is MSN.com. Along with featuring up-to-date news, MSN offers at-your-fingertips access to the latest in tech, sports, fashion, music, lifestyle, health, and more. As part of the Windows Champions program, I’ve delved into Windows 8 and have been exploring all of the functions, versatility, personalization, and seamless integration it offers. With MSN’s upgraded, faster experience, I can access a variety of articles and share them via my mobile or tablet device.
Since I’ve been working towards a healthier, more rounded “me,” I’ve been perusing MSN and bookmarking my favorite health-related articles. Here are five articles I’m currently gleaning inspiration from to ensure I’m taking care of myself physically and emotionally:
