I have a little secret…you know that cute black purse I’ve been toting around? It’s actually a diaper bag. And it’s ready to be retired! Do you know what I’m replacing it with? Another diaper bag! I can’t tell you how many other moms who I’ve talked to that also carry a diaper bag in place of a purse.
Fortunately, companies like Momma Couture, make it fashionably functional to pass a diaper bag off as a purse tote a diaper bag. Momma Couture was founded by a mom who wanted to use her own handbags, but required something with the capacity to carry her daughter’s essentials.
As a busy mom of two, I have to juggle the kidlets and all of their “stuff.” I’ve found that it’s much too difficult to carry more than one bag, so a combination handbag/diaper bag is the perfect solution. Momma Couture’s Satchel (retails for $165) is stylish, roomy, and most importantly, functional. One of the most impressive features of the bag is that it contains insulated pockets. The bag is super soft and expandable, and holds a lot more than I imagined it could. Did I mention that it does not look like a diaper bag? At all! And it includes the fully insulated Momma’s Wristlet (retails for $22), which is ideal for quick trips out to the grocery store.
The Satchel is part of Momma Couture’s Everyday Collection, a line of versatile handbags made of smooth nylon and faux leather. Most of the bags are available in earthy, gender-neutral colors (as opposed to conventional diaper bags that are typically offered in more vibrant hues).

Several months ago I won a diaper bag with the intention of sending it to my son-in-law who often takes the baby out with him (it’s intended for men). But when it arrived I realized it was the perfect carry-on bag for traveling with my laptop, ipod, e-reader, etc! Good thing I hadn’t already mentioned the bag to him cause he never got it 🙂
