Farm To Table Dining in Squaw Valley

Posted by Caryn Bailey 3 Comments

No compensation was received for this post. We were invited as guests of Squaw Valley which facilitated the writing of this post.

Farm to table is a concept that’s very important to me. One of the greatest adventures of traveling to a new place is exploring the local food scene. It isn’t uncommon for me to research unique cuisines or best restaurants in our destination city. I’m a self-proclaimed foodie, but I’m also extremely passionate about eating healthy, so you’ll often find me scouting out local, organic, and vegetarian cuisines – all farm to table whenever possible.

Farm to Table – Culinary Excellence at Olympic Village Lodge Garden

During our visit to Squaw Valley, we walked into the Olympic Village Lodge Garden and found ourselves immersed in the serenity of the Sierra Nevada Mountains sipping local wines and reveling in bruschetta, fresh watermelon, and pickled vegetables. Personally crafted by Executive Chef Tiffany Swan, what ensued was a leisurely Farm to Table Dining Experience that included decadent potatoes I’m still dreaming about, a Meringue I might have had seconds of (in the interest of journalism, of course), and bacon onion jam.

Farm to Table Dinner

Throughout the year, guests visiting Squaw Valley can enjoy a lavish Farm to Table Dinner experience with foods they can feel good about indulging in. The menu, which rotates through the seasons, features sustainably-sourced food and wine from the Tahoe Food Hub and local farms in the vicinity. Each three-course meal is prepared in the MTN ROOTS Food Truck and served al fresco on the KT Sundeck at Squaw Valley or inside at the Olympic Valley Lodge during the winter. Chef Swan has also recently added a new Sunday Brunch Series which features buffet-style dining with dishes like summer vegetables, a seasonal frittata, and Neueske’s bacon.

Because the menu changes, the dishes shown below may not be included in your Farm-To-Table Dinner Experience. But rest assured, the food tastes even better than it looks!

Okay Caryn, I recognize that rockinmama.net is “A Lifestyle Resource for the Modern Mom” and that doesn’t apply to me, however I particularly enjoy the articles not tailored specifically to moms you write about, including this one (besides I’m not yet aware of a comparable resource for dads). :-/ A place where I was once not familiar with at all, l now want to visit soley on the experience you describe alongside the eye-catching photos in your write up. You’re talented and great at what you do, and as with all the others, thanks for sharing this experience.

Caryn, I’m glad my comments about you and your work were encouraging and without any doubt I believe Squaw Valley is just as beautiful as it looks, but your gift for taking the reader there (with you) is more than just great photograpy. Just keeping it real, it’s skillful expression, so keep it “Rockin”! Yeah, that’s a real cheesy play on the website’s name, couldn’t help myself… please don’t hold it against me. 😀
