Extreme Purse Makeover *Giveaway*

Posted by Caryn Bailey 71 Comments

This giveaway is now closed. Thanks for stopping by!  The winner is Tamara B. Congrats!

For the last three years, I’ve been using a diaper bag instead of a purse.  At some point during my son’s childhood, I decided that it would be easier to carry one bag as opposed to two.  And I can fit so much more in a diaper bag.  Inevitably, my purse/diaper bag has become somewhat disorganized.

While it doesn’t “appear” to be all that messy, it’s practically impossible to find anything that’s buried at the bottom.  Part of the problem is the sheer number of compartments the bag has.  The other part of the problem is the sheer number of items in the bag.

Kellogg’s recently challenged me to “Plus Up” my purse.  In essence, this little exercise helped me scale down the items in my purse to those that are essential.  So what are the items needed by moms like you and I?

Wallet, including identification, emergency numbers, cash, and one or two credit cards.  I didn’t know this, but it’s much safer to leave the rest of your credit cards at home.

Notepad/Pen for lists, notes, etc.

Pouch for Toiletries.  My essentials for this pouch include lip gloss, hand sanitizer, nail file and feminine hygiene products

Sunglasses

Cell Phone

Keys

Snack(s).  In the busyness of getting the kids ready and packed up, I often forget to pack a snack for myself.  Nuts, bars, and dried fruit are healthy snacks that travel well.

Speaking of snacks, I had an opportunity to try Kellogg’s new FiberPlus Bars during this challenge.  Despite the fact that the word “fiber” is in the bars, they’re delicious.  Available in 3 varieties, FiberPlus Bars pack in 35 percent of the daily recommended value of fiber (9 grams) and 20 percent of the daily recommended value of antioxidants E and zinc.  Each bar contains 120-130 calories, 4-5 grams of fat, 7 grams of whole grains, and 10 percent of the daily recommended amount of calcium.  The bars are free from trans fats, cholesterol and high fructose corn syrup.

My favorite of the three varieties is Chocolate Chip.  FiberPlus Bars are also available in Chocolatey Peanut Butter and Dark Chocolate Almond varieties. Sometimes, bars that contain fiber can taste a bit like cardboard.  I like the fact that the bars are not overly sweet but still taste really good.  I feel like I’m indulging a bit, especially with the Dark Chocolate Almond and while I wouldn’t say they taste like candy bars, they satisfy my chocolate/sweet cravings.

So…how did I “Plus Up” my purse?

I got rid of a lot of things I don’t need or use.  My husband is always complaining about how heavy my purse is.  I found a smaller purse that is still capable of holding diapers, wipes, etc. for the kids without being large enough to cause strain on my shoulder.  It’s also super cute!  I also organized the smaller items into a clear pouch so I can still find everything readily and got rid of all of the credit cards I’ve been carrying around.

Win It! How would one of you like to win a $75 gift card and a package of Kellogg’s FiberPlus Bars to “Plus Up” your purse?  Here is how you enter (please be sure to follow the rules so you don’t get disqualified):

HOW TO ENTER:  Entries may be submitted in ONE of two ways.

1. Post a comment stating why you need to “Plus Up” your purse.

2: Tweet why you need to “Plus Up” your purse and include @rockinmama and the hashtag #plusup.

Limit one (1) Giveaway entry per person regardless of method of entry.

Remember you must follow the rules in order to participate.  Good luck!

No monetary compensation was provided for this post. The gift card and product coupon for review and giveaway were provided by the company.

I need a big plus up so I can quickly change purses to match outfits! I have built up quite a collection of purses but I always stick to one because of all the junk at the bottom that needs to be sorted through in order to get all the necessities in the purse – it’s just too much trouble to keep me fashion-conscious! You’ll see me out – hot pink purse with an outfit that totally doesn’t match…..HELP ME! lol

My purse is a mess most of the time! I keep shoving stuff in until it either gets so heavy I don’t want to lug it around or I just can’t find anything anymore. Some organization and a healthy snack (instead of the candy that’s usually in there) would do it some good!

I need to Plus Up My Purse because I literally just went and weighed it. With everything I’m carrying in it at present it weighs a whopping eight pounds. Who needs three eye glass cases in their purse? I think I need to just get a pill case too, instead of carrying three different bottles of pills around with me all the time. The more and more I’m looking at this purse the more and more I know I need to get busy and tackle it.

I carry all coupons with me because otherwise I won’t have them when I need them and I hate to buy a product when I know I have a coupon somewhere at home. I don’t even get the expired ones out promptly, so there this way too much weight on my shoulder.

I need to “plus up” my bag because, like many others, I have a habit of putting in way too many unnecessary items – old receipts, loose change, five different packs of gum or mints, etc., as well as items that tend to spill or leak, like hand sanitizer and boxes of staples or clips. I really need to simplify things are reduce it to the bare essentials!

I don’t really have too many things in the bag, they just need to be more organized so I can reach in and grab them when they are needed and stop digging around for what I need.

I really need to “Plus Up” my purse because it is a mess filled with a ton of stuff and it takes me forever to find anything in it. It is also embarrassing. When I go into a store or something, I usually have to dump some stuff in my car 1st because my purse looks terrible with all that stuff buldging out of it. I too need to only have what I actually need and not every other thing that I don’t need in my purse.

first of all, I have 5 children and carry a diaper bag/purse/tote bag for all my children’s junk . Its always unorganized and I spend time sitting in my van digging around trying to find my keys everytime I come out of a store. My change section of my wallet ALWAYS spills out. Next I could use to plus up and carry some Fiber plus bars because I often don’t eat all day when out running errands and stuff and end up with a hunger headache, starving. Since I am a nursing mother I probably shouldn’t go so long without eating.
