Effortless Pizzeria-Style Pizza From DiGiorno

Posted by Caryn Bailey 4 Comments

This is part of a compensated campaign with DIGIORNO and SheSpeaks. All thoughts and opinions remain solely that of the author.

After a week of work, summer camp, and home-cooked meals, the last thing my husband and I want,to do is begin creating an elaborate dinner.  Friday nights have unofficially become pizza and movie night, and not surprisingly, my children count on it every single week.

DIGIORNO PIzza

As foodies, my husband and I typically prefer to create our own dishes or spend the extra money on a restaurant with dishes we couldn’t easily recreate at home.  So when I was challenged to try pizzeria! from DIGIORNO, I hoped that it would satisfy my craving for a thick crust topped with a zesty sauce and piping hot melted cheese.

DIGIORNO PIzza

pizzeria! from DIGIORNO is a new line of frozen pizza gleaning inspiration from the traditional pizzeria.  What compelled my to actually pick a few of these up was the fact that the four varieties offered are free from artificial flavors and preservatives.

DIGIORNO PIzza

Available in four varieties, these family-sized pizzas offer the flavor and texture you would expect from a pizzeria from the comfort of your home. Simply pop them in the oven frozen and in 20 minutes we had piping hot pizza that actually tasted quite good.

Because we don’t eat meat, we were only able to try the Quattro Formaggi variety which includes a blend of mozzarella, fontina, parmesan, and pecorino cheeses.  The crust, which is the perfectly soft on the inside with a crispy finish is drizzled with olive oil, is topped with a tomato, garlic, and herb sauce which compliments the pizza nicely. Very often, frozen  meals tend to be salty because of their need to be preserved for a period of time, but I didn’t find these to be overwhelming in this area.

At present, the three additional flavor varieties all contain meat.  I would really like to see DIGIORNO come out with a vegetarian option as well as some more upscale, gourmet pizzas (I’m thinking Greek or Mediterranean-inspired).

DIGIORNO PIzza

pizzeria! from DIGIORNO is currently available in the frozen section of your local grocery store. If you visit their Facebook page, you’ll receive a coupon to use on your next purchase.
