One of the most unique and artistic Halloween celebrations occurs every year at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles. EEK! At The Greek! is a family-friendly, musical event presented by Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. Now in it’s fourth year, EEK! At The Greek will feature a 60-piece Symphony In The Glen Orchestra with Maestro Arthur B. Rubinstein.
This LA-based orchestra will present a creepy collection of frightening favorites including “Infernal Dance” from the Firebird by Igor Stravinksy, Danse Macabre by Camille Saint-Saens, Funeral March of the Marionette with children conductors, “Gnomes” from Pictures at an Exhibition by Modest Mussorgsky, the Devil Dance by John Williams, Zigeunerweisen (“Gipsy Airs”) by Pablo de Sarasate, which will be played by young violinist soloist, Sandy Cameron, and Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Tell-tale Heart” with special guest narrator. Additionally, audiences will enjoy a World Premier live performance of the cartoon Skeleton Dance from Disney’s 1929 Silly Symphonies accompanied by a performance of the original music by Carl Stalling.
Prior to the performance, families can arrive as early as 4:30 pm to enjoy safe trick-or-treating and Halloween activities at the Greek Theatre’s “Trick-or-Treat Village.” Some of the activities offered include arts & crafts, face painting and a costume contest, which will begin at 4:30 pm in the front plaza. The finale will take place during intermission on The Greek Theatre’s main stage.
Tickets for EEK! At The Greek! start at just $8.00 for children and $25.00 for adults. Parking is not included but can be purchased online in advance for $15-25.
