My son’s latest interest is origami. He even checked out a book about how to create
complicated elaborate origami characters. Awesome. Apparently he hasn’t grasped the fact that I’m not a Pinterest mom…not to confused with moms like me who use Pinterest to glean inspiration (or otherwise dream about all of the things I’ll probably never make).
But I digressed. LAIKA, the studio known for stop-motion masterpieces such as Coraline, ParaNorman, and The Boxtrolls will release it’s next feature film, Kubo and the Two Strings. The film stars the voice talents of Charlize Theron, Matthew McConaughey, Ralph Fiennes and George Takei and follows the story of Kubo who is caring for his mother in a Japanese village. When he accidentally summons a spirit from his past, Kubo’s life is turned upside down as an age-old vendetta is re-ignited. Forced to run from the gods and monsters now in pursuit of Kubo, he joins forces with monkey and Beetle on a quest to save his family and solve the mystery of his fallen father, the legendary Samurai warrior. With the help of his magical musical instrument, Kubo must battle gods and monsters to unlock the secret of his legacy, reunite his family and fulfill his destiny as a hero.
Ahead of the Summer release, I’m sharing instructions on how to make this beautiful DIY Origami Rose Bouquet.
This particular bouquet was crafted by professional origami artisans at Taro’s Origami Studio and features 500 folds. Kubo and the Two Strings debuts in theaters August 19, 2016. To keep up to date with the film, you can follow via the following social channels:
