DIY Christmas Photo Ornament

Posted by Caryn Bailey 25 Comments

This is part of a sponsored collaboration with Latina Mom Bloggers and Pampers. All opinions are 100% mine.

Even before my eyes met my son’s, I had already started collecting and preserving his memories in an album.  I placed everything from a photo of his first ultrasound to letters I received from friends and family while I was on bedrest. Once he was born, that album quickly filled up with photos and items that reminded me of his newborn moments. As life goes, the busyness of managing a home and a career made it difficult to continue adding to that album. However, being an avid lover of photography, I have thousands of photos of each of my children stored on hard drives.  The question I always ask myself is “What am I going to do with all of those photos?”

Traditionally, I’ve created photo books, often organized by a certain periods of time in my children’s lives. These photo books make lovely gifts for parents and grandparents, but as we approach the holiday season, I wanted to create something special that celebrated each of my kids and was uniquely theirs.  Since they love all-things Christmas and a day doesn’t go by without them asking when we’re displaying and decorating our tree, I decided to create Christmas Photo Ornaments for each of them. These ornaments are super easy to make and you can even get your kids involved in the process if you’d like them have their own unique creative touch.

Christmas Ornament Supplies

Here is what you’ll need for this project:

  • Wooden Photo Ornaments
  • Paint Pens
  • Photo Paper
  • Scissors

1. Print your favorite photos on photo paper and cut to match the shape of the photo placeholder

2. Use paint pens to decorate the ornaments. Allow each color to dry completely before proceeding to the next color to avoid smudging and blending of colors.

3. *Optional* Use jewels or beads for ornaments

3. Allow to dry completely before inserting photo

4. Display on your Christmas tree

DIY Christmas Photo Ornament

These ornaments are super easy to make even if you don’t think you’re very crafty.  My kids LOVED these Christmas Photo Ornaments and their excitement over them was quickly followed by their insistence on getting our Christmas tree displayed!  If you’re looking for additional ways to capture those special moments with your children, I highly encourage you to pick up The Crafty Chica Collection, a book with Latina-inspired ideas by my friend and fellow blogger Kathy Cano Murillo.

In partnership with Pampers, one of you will have a chance to receive a gift basket filled with items to help capture those special moments of love with your child. Pampers was our go-to brand for diapers when our children were babies and the #1 choice at local hospitals in Los Angeles and across the country (I can attest to this fact as I’ve worked in a number of NICU units throughout LA and Orange County and the only diapers used on those babies are Pampers!).   While I definitely recommend potty training when your children show signs of readiness, you can feel comfortable knowing that even if your child doesn’t “get it” until later, Pampers Swaddlers (those comfy, cozy diapers you use for your newborn) are now available through size 6.  To learn more about Pampers Gifts of Love, I encourage you to follow #RegaloDeAmorPampers across your social media channels.

Pampers Prize Pack

Win It!  One of you will win a #RegaloDeAmorPampers gift basket to help you creatively capture your own special moments of love with your children. The basket will include the following items:

The Crafty Chica Collection Book

$25 Michael’s gift card to create a keepsake

Such a cute lil ornament! I always have the camera ready on celebrations. I try to snap Instagram photos of the boys playing together whether they’re making a mess with Playdoh (LOL), or relaxing with the Kindle. I’m in the process of editing photos to upload to our digital frame and Snapfish.

We try and take as many photos and videos as possible. I have a frame that will go up to a year month by month showing a picture from birth (Birth, 1 month, 2 month, etc up to 1 yr old).  Julie [email protected]
