This giveaway is now closed. Thanks for stopping by! The winner is Amber. Congrats!

One of the most relaxing ways to travel is on a train. My husband and I spent almost one year backpacking Europe before we had children.  We easily navigated Europe and the UK with their advanced rail system and we’ve often considered taking our children on a cross-country trip via trains.

Three years ago, Amtrak founded National Train Day to help inform the public about the advantages of rail travel and it’s history in the US.  This year, the holiday falls on May 7th and will be celebrated at Amtrak stations and railroad museums across the country.

If you have a train-loving child like my son, you’ll be happy to learn of the many free events happening across the country. In Los Angeles, the celebration will be held at Union Station and will feature model trains, train equipment displays, special exhibits, arts & crafts, live entertainment, and more.

The popular PBS KIDS show Dinosaur Train, is celebrating the joys of rail travel with special train-themed programs and activities throughout May and kicks off with a brand new episode on May 6th.  In honor of National Train Day, PBS SoCal and the Jim Henson Company will host a Dinosaur Train-themed celebration at the Los Angeles Live Steamers Railroad Museum.  Activities include rides on the 7½” gauge model trains that travel over two miles of track, photos with Buddy the dinosaur, a singalong with Craig Bartlett who created Dinosaur Train, train-themed crafts, and story-time featuring a Random House Dinosaur Train book. This event is not open to the public, however, I have a family four pack of tickets to give away to one local reader!

Win It! One of you will attend this invite-only event (4 tickets) to celebrate National Train Day With Dinosaur Train. Simply leave me a comment telling me why you like Dinosaur Train. Comments will close on Monday, May 2nd at 11:59 PM PST.  Please only enter if you know for sure you will be able to attend, should you win.

US Residents only.  Duplicates and comments not including the above information will be disqualified. Comments are moderated. If you don’t see your comment in a reasonable amount of time, send me an email. Bloggers and non-bloggers may enter. If you don’t want to leave your email address, please be sure to check back for my announcement on the winner. Please note that winners must respond within 48 hours of being announced/contacted or another winner will be drawn.

Want an extra entry? Do any or all of the following and receive an extra entry for each one. Be sure to leave me a separate comment for each additional entry.

Yes, we could attend. (But I think we would only need 2 tickets). My daughter loves Dinosaur Train. We caught it once by chance and she started asking for it. I think this would be great fun for her, and it is a unique opportunity. I actually had never heard of the Live Steamers Railroad Museum before this. If we don’t win tickets, we’ll have to plan a visit on one of the days they’re open to the public.
