Burlington Partners With WomenHeart For Heart of Style Tour *Giveaway*

The day my mother told me that she had elevated cholesterol, I almost couldn’t believe it. My mother eats healthier than anyone I know and walks every single day.  Her only real risk factor for heart disease is a family history. Heart disease remains the leading cause of death among women, and while preventable, symptoms are often subtle or absent.  Education, prevention and early detection are crucial to mitigating the risks of a disease that people used to believe only affected men and the elderly.

WOMENHEART: THE NATIONAL COALITION FOR WOMEN WITH HEART DISEASE HEART OF STYLE TOUR

In order to raise awareness and provide education to women across the country, Burlington has partnered with WomenHeart for a nationwide Heart of Style Tour. Through the end of the month, women are invited to their local Burlington store for complimentary Heart Health Screenings including blood pressure, Body Mass Index, and a risk factor assessment. *Most* of the events will take place from 10 am to 4 pm at select locations throughout the country, and below you’ll find the details for all 4 Southern California events.

Southern California Heart of Style Tour Stops

  • 3/14 – San Diego, CA (3962 Clairemont Mesa Blvd)
  • 3/15 – San Diego, CA (7938 El Cajon Blvd, La Mesa, CA)
  • 3/17 – Los Angeles, CA (245 East Magnolia Blvd, Burbank, CA)
  • 3/18 – Los Angeles, CA (22835 Victory Blvd, West Hills, CA) *12 pm to 4 pm

Red Dresses

In addition to the Heart of Style Tour, Burlington also launched a new Red Dress section to continue raise funds and awareness for heart disease among women. Through March 31st, 2014, Burlington will donate $1, up to $25,000, to benefit education and support of women living with heart disease, for every dress purchased. As a Hispanic woman, I realize that genetics alone put me at risk which is why I’m incredibly passionate about the partnership between Burlington and WomenHeart. How can you help? 

Through March 31st, visit your local Burlington store and you’ll have an opportunity to donate $1 (or more) during check-out to benefit WomenHeart. Anyone who donates will receive 20% off their purchase at 1800Flowers.com.
