I recently talked about how little shopping I do for myself these days. Mostly it’s because I’d rather buy clothing for my kids than myself. When I actually do get around to it, I think I do it quite well. Before I had kids, I’d consistently pick out the most expensive items. However, I would also find the best deals.
This week TwitterMoms is asking for our top 10 tips for being fashionable on a budget. So here are mine!
1. Shop off-price (I like TJ Maxx and Marshalls)
2. Comparison shop
3. Peruse the ads ahead of time
4. Use coupons
5. Sign up for rewards programs
6. Buy a few key staple items and mix & match
7. Browse the sale racks
8. Shop for an upcoming or previous season
9. Go to an outlet mall
10. Shop online
Parent companies Banana Republic and Gap have outlet stores which offer significant savings on their items.
Gap Outlet is offering summer dress and cardigans for $15 and up to 40% off other select items from May 7-24, 2010! Banana Republic Factory Store’s “It’s All About Her Sale” offers savings of up to 50% off all women’s clothes from April 30th through May 19th.

I’m really in to Loehmann’s myself. I’m a member of their “Insiders Club”, so I get extra coupons in the mail all of the time. It’s the best place to go to Designer Denim (think $80 for a pair of Citizens!), Designer Shoes, Handbags, Causal Wear, and high-quality lingerie like Wacoal. To me shopping at Loehmann’s is a lot like shopping at Nordstrom or Saks- except I can afford it!
I’ve never actually shopped at Loehmann’s! I need to check it out…is there one in South OC?
