If you’ve seen the little button on my sidebar, then you know I’ve already bought a ticket to BlogHer in Chicago. I’ve never been to the Windy City and somehow, I have this feeling that I’m not going to be able to see much of it. Have you seen the sheer amount of happenings going on (and I’m not talking about the actual conference!)? If you’re planning on attending, I’d love to meet you! Let me know so I can look for ya!
I am so excited to announce my first sponsor. It’s a company I initially started working with last year called CARES. I married a man who’s family lives half-way across the country, so traveling to the Southeast a few times a year is inevitable. Moms and dads…if you’ve ever flown on a plane with a child, then you know how difficult it is. The “stuff” alone makes me want to turn around before we even board the plane. But for me, traveling with a lap child is simply not an option. I’ve heard too many stories of people getting hurt during unexpected turbulence to not have my child strapped in safely. So…the question becomes how do I, as a parent, lug around everything PLUS a car seat? Enter the Child Aviation Restraint System which is seriously brilliant. You can read my complete review here, but here are some facts you MUST know about CARES:
CARES is the only harness type child aviation safety restraint ever certified by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
CARES is an elegantly designed belt and buckle device for kids 22-44 pounds that is easy to use and creates a safe airplane seat for your child without the hassle of carrying a 20 pound car seat.
CARES weighs just 1 pound and fits into a 6″ stuff sack! It is simple to install, adjustable to virtually any size airplane seat, and keeps your child as safe as a car seat would.
CARES is made of the same industrial-strength webbing as your own seatbelt. It is engineered and manufactured by AmSafe Aviation, the world’s foremost manufacturer of airline seatbelts.
Safety is my top concern whenever I consider products such as this one. The fact that it’s FAA approved gives me confidence in it’s effectiveness. It makes traveling less stressful (since the load is lighter) and it’s super easy to use. If you’d like more information, be sure to leave me a comment or catch me at BlogHer!

This CARES thing sounds very cool. And safe. And good.
I’m going to BlogHer too. Look at all those parties in your sidebar! I’m pretty much winging it (besides the People’s party and MamaPop)
Hope to meet you there!
(and what’s this GM eat and greet thing? I live near Mpls. Just wondering…)

Hi Caryn!
As you know, I won’t be attending BlogHer this year (I have a 3.5 month old baby and making the cross-country trek with her didn’t sound particularly appealing…and traveling without her would just be heartbreaking). But I hope you have a wonderful time!
Can you believe BlogHer ’08 was a year ago? It was so fun hanging out with you there (even though I was a bit ill and tired due to morning sickness…). 🙂
