My little one is on a bottle strike! We introduced bottles at 1 month and he did great. He even seemed to prefer bottles over me. As the months went by we nursed more and he took bottles less because it was so much easier for me. With me going back to work in January it figures that he would decide that now he doesn’t like bottles. It has been a struggle and we have had to trick him into taking a bottle. We still haven’t had great success and it really depends on the day as to whether or not he takes a bottle or 2. We have had several rough nights since that seems to be his fussiest time. The funny thing is he knows the difference at such an early age. When he is hungry I’ll go to give him the bottle and he’ll stick his tongue out and turn his head away. As soon as I go to nurse him, his whole demeanor changes. I’ve been reading online about how to get a baby to take a bottle and all of the methods seem to involve either outsmarting the baby or letting them cry until they give in out of desperate hunger. Since I can’t stand to let my baby cry we’ve opted for slipping the bottle in once he has begun nursing. We are open to other suggestions since he is still not consistently taking a bottle.

Darn, those little ones are hard to outsmart!
One of the tips I’ve heard is that someone other than mom should give the bottle. Mom should be no where in sight (or smell).
If baby thinks mom isn’t available, the bottle seems like a good option.
Hope this helps!
