Affordable, On-Trend Spring Fashion At Walmart

Posted by Caryn Bailey 1 Comment

For the first time in weeks, I walked out of the house without a sweater or my boots, perhaps a sign that Spring isn’t too far away. We’ve had one of the coldest winters I can remember, so despite the short warming trend, I wasn’t prepared to think about Spring yet. But many stores are ahead of the game, and I’m already seeing some of the top fashion trends on display.

According to the leading fashion magazines, Bermuda Shorts, Bold Stripes, Peekaboo Pieces, Black & White, Beautiful Beading, and Flats/Low Heels are some of the most popular trends we will see this Spring.  And true to their predictions, that is exactly what I found on my latest trip to Walmart.

Armed with a $100 gift card, I shopped at 4 different stores to put together this Spring wardrobe:

While I’ve picked up a wardrobe piece here and there, I’ve never actually shopped at Walmart for women’s clothing prior to this trip.  What I found, particularly at my local store, was an expansive collection of fashion for juniors and women, including on-trend, plus-size pieces.

Casual Spring Outfit

Color, particularly the more vibrant hues, was a dominating theme among the clothing pieces I saw on display including sheer overlays, leggings, dresses, and even jeans.

It may seem contrary to wear black and white in the Spring, but this year is all about making a bold statement.  I recommend taking some of the black or white pieces you already own to pair them with something new.

You can purchase a new top to liven up a black skirt or simply compliment those pieces with new accessories. As you can see in the photo above, beads are in, and many of the tops on display were ornately decorated with them.

Casual Spring Outfit

While I definitely saw some dressy skirts and blouses, I found that most of the stores I visited offered much more in the way of casual attire.  In particular, Walmart offers a ton of different jean options in nearly any style you can think of. Colored denim is also making a popular fashion resurgence and there were an assortment of jeans on display in the junior section.

Once again, leggings will be a popular staple piece for both dressy and casual outfits.  In the outfit above, I dressed them up with a vibrant short-sleeved sweater.

Accessories are an important part of any outfit and can be used to glam up even a simple skirt and top. I picked up the above necklace and earrings set for less than $10.

Dressy Sandals

Given my short stature, I’m not sure how I feel about that fact that low-heeled shoes are “in” this year. However, as a busy, on-the-go mom, I appreciate the comfort they will provide.  Walmart offers several different styles of low-heeled dressy sandals that will compliment both formal and casual outfits.

The question remains…how much did I spend on the above Spring Wardrobe?  Here is the breakdown:

I was quite impressed with my finds, but I do recommend visiting more than one store, since I found different wardrobe pieces at each location.

Walmart’s Spring Fashion Collection is currently on display in stores nationwide.
