We have just ventured off to the desert for a quick mini getaway and the drive seemed like the perfect time to pop in Seal’s new CD entitled Soul.  As soon as the soulful melody of A Change Is Gonna Come started playing, I knew this was going to be a favorite of mine.  I grew up with a father who played nothing but the “oldies” and soul is still one of his favorite music genres.  Waves of nostalgia swept over me as I remembered all of those car rides to school, made more pleasant by “good music.”  An album is a hit with me if it can evoke emotion and change my mood.

Seal has a way of taking classics like Here I Am (Come and Take Me) and It’s Alright and giving them a hint of modern edge while retaining the songs’ personality and originality.  Soul collaborated with legendary producer David Foster to create an album that bridges the old with the new in a reverent way.

  2. Definietly a well known song for Seal — but can’t help listing “Crazy” as my favorite of his songs. My favorite item from Delight.com is the Little Twig Organic Baby Care Starter Set, although I also love the Kleen Kanteens! Thanks for the chance to win!

    There were a lot of things that I liked on delight.com…

  42. I’m not a huge fan of this covers album but he sings them beautifully. I’ll go with ‘i can’t stand the rain’ and ‘knock on wood’ as my favorites from this album. i’d have preferred some more distinct arrangements. Seal can sing, that’s for sure.

  44. I watched Seal perform a song from this album (err, CD) last night and immediately knew I would love all the songs on it.
    I like to hear different singers takes on other crooners songs (covers) and I think Seal does a beautiful job with James Brown’s It’s a Man’s Man’s Man’s World.

    After perusing the Delights.com site I must say the Smencils (made from recycled newspaper…?!!) are so unique and brilliant.

  59. “A Kiss From A Rose” is a lyrical masterpiece. I’ve always written poetry, and have never come close to the depth and meaning of this song through words. Seal’s voice and the melody are haunting.

  71. My favorite Seal song is A Kiss from a Rose. I could listen to that over and over again it is just so magical. And, Delight.com has so many fantastic items! They truly offer some unique items and their prices are very reasonable too! I love the Double Sprocket Clock Made From Recycled Bike Parts! I am thinking about getting this for my brother for Christmas! He is a true cyclist and even rides in the winter months in the snow! I think he would really appreciate this!
