A Better Night’s Sleep With ProActive Comfort Pillow

Posted by Caryn Bailey 1 Comment

I vaguely remember when sleeping for 8 or even 9 hours straight was the norm.  These days, I’m happy if I can collectively get 6 or 7 hours of sleep.  One co-sleeping, nursing baby who’s yet to sleep through the night plus one 3 year old who sneaks into our bed around midnight equals chronic sleep interruption.  Did I mention that my husband snores?  Yes, I’m very often one tired mommy!

Despite our sleep challenges, my husband and I continue to sleep in the same bed because we know how important that is to our marriage.  The National Sleep Foundation surveyed couples to find out their sleep habits and styles and found a direct correlation between marital happiness and sharing a good night’s sleep.  Interestingly enough, they also found that one in four couples sleep in separate bedrooms or beds to achieve a better night’s sleep.  There are obviously numerous factors that can interrupt sleep including environmental factors such as noise and temperature, an uncomfortable sleep environment (i.e. mattress, pillow), the amount of caffeine consumed, and medical conditions.  While I can’t control the number of times my children wake up at night, I can ensure the environment we’re sleeping in (or shall I say on?) is optimal.

For the last week, I’ve been sleeping on The ProActive Comfort Pillow.  I am the type of person that grows so attached to a pillow, that I have to bring it with me whenever I’m away from home. If I have the wrong pillow (too flat, too fluffy, etc) I cannot sleep, so giving up my former pillow to try the ProActive Comfort Pillow was a big step for me.

The biggest difference between this pillow and my former pillow is the fact that it features a super soft and comfy ViscoFresh memory foam.  It’s dual-sided design makes it versatile for back or side sleepers.  The neck cradle side built into the pillow helps position the body for maximum airflow and helps to reduce snoring in back sleepers.  My husband is a back sleeper and ironically snores, so I’m thinking about letting him try it out for a night or two.  The neck contour side is ideal for side sleepers like myself and helps alight the body with room for the shoulder.  The ProActive Comfort Pillow also features top-to-bottom air channels to create the ideal sleep temperature.  What surprised me most about the pillow was it’s lovely smell.  It is made with plant based ingredients and has a light, green tea scent.

I have had both back and neck pain in the past and cannot sleep without the proper pillow.  The pillow is very comfortable and forms to your head and neck.  The light scent it gives off is calming without being overwhelming. I typically don’t get hot at night so I didn’t necessarily notice any differences in sleep temperature but it would be interesting to have my husband try the pillow out for a few nights since he is always hot at night (even in the middle of winter).

The ProActive Comfort Pillow retails for $69.99 and is available online at Sleep Studio.  This might just be the ideal Valentine’s Day gift for your partner…the gift of a good night’s sleep!
