We have never been more excited to step foot inside SeaWorld San Diego since the park has now fully re-opened, complete with rides and indoor exhibits. SeaWorld hosts a number of themed events each year, and we are so happy to see that the park has resumed those special activities for families. SeaWorld kicked off its Spring season with the Seven Seas Food Festival where we embarked on a global culinary adventure! Now, as we head into the Summer, SeaWorld is celebrating kids with Sesame Street-themed weekends. Check out our family guide to Sesame Street Kids’ Weekends at SeaWorld and what you need to know about SeaWorld San Diego’s reopening.

Sesame Street Kids’ Weekends
We headed straight to our first ride before joining Elmo and friends for breakfast during their Kids’ Weekends and realized that it had been over a year since we have been on any attraction at an amusement park. We visited SeaWorld during the shutdown when the park was operating outdoor exhibits and were highly impressed with their safety protocols, which they have translated to rides and indoor exhibits. You can find more information about their safety protocols on their website and my post What to Expect When Southern California Theme Parks Reopen.
There are a ton of free Sesame Street-themed activities taking place during Sesame Street Kids’ Weekends including a brand new animal education presentation with Elmo & Abby Cadabby, storytime on the Sesame Street Bay of Play stage, and their Furry Friends Dance Party. The highlight of SeaWorld’s themed weekends for kids is brunch with Elmo and friends.
Brunch with Elmo & Friends
Our family talked about the fact that when character dining has returned, we know that things are looking up! We absolutely love character dining and we were so excited to see this brand new experience at SeaWorld San Diego.
Brunch with Elmo & Friends takes place Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays at 1030 am on the Explorers Café Patio. The experience includes brunch with character appearances, an interactive dance party with Elmo and friends, and physically distanced photos with Elmo.
We can’t talk about brunch without talking about the food! The brunch includes your favorite breakfast items with a SeaWorld twist including berry compote & mint infused French Toast (yum!), homemade biscuits & gravy, orange infused honey parfaits and Sesame Street Cupcakes. The brunch also includes a selection of lunch items such as sandwiches. Drinks and dessert are included and the brunch is all-you-can-eat. The expansive selection of items reminds me of SeaWorld’s Dine With Orcas experience, which we hope will reopen soon.
During brunch, Elmo and friends will engage families in an interactive dance party to the tune of your favorite hits. Commemorate the experience with a physically distanced photo with Elmo (or another Sesame Street Character). Families receive a complimentary photo with their reservation.
Brunch with Elmo & Friends is an add-on with adult tickets priced at $39.99 and kids’ tickets priced at $34.99 (ages 3-9). Be sure to secure your reservation online at SeaWorld.com/SanDiego.
R is for Rescue
Part of what makes a visit to SeaWorld San Diego so unique is the opportunity to learn about their rescue program. This kid-friendly presentation is hosted by Elmo and Abby Cadabby, the SeaWorld Rescue Team, and SeaWorld’s animal ambassadors, who teach kids about these extraordinary animals. Together, they teach families how animals in need are rescued and care for at SeaWorld. The presentation takes place at the Nautilus Amphitheater. Reserved seating and a special animal encounter are available as add-ons.
Sesame Street Storytime
If your kids need some downtime while at SeaWorld, Sesame Street Storytime is the perfect opportunity to catch a break. This brand new experience takes place at the Sesame Street Bay of Play stage and features a story and photo opps with your favorite Sesame Street characters.
Furry Friends Dance Party
Kids can sing and dance with Elmo and friends at the new Furry Friends Dance Party. Also located in the Sesame Street Bay of Play, kids can interact with their favorite Sesame Street characters while remaining physically distant.
Sesame Street Character Meet and Greets
In addition to the above experiences, kids can meet and take photos with Abby Cadabby at Abby Cadabby’s Garden, and Count von Count at The Count’s Castle. Both of these photo opps/meet and greets are located at the Sesame Street Bay of Play.
