5 Things You Didn’t Know About Batman V Superman

Superman

I was first introduced to the “Man of Steel” on the lap of my father as a little girl. My father was the ultimate superhero fan, and his favorite was the man who’s prominent weakness was luminous green Kryptonite. We watched the entire saga starring Christopher Reeves and quickly became hooked on the TV series.  My introduction to Batman came later and I found him compelling because unlike other superheroes, he doesn’t actually possess superpowers.

Batman

In the DC Universe, Batman and Superman are more often seen as allies. So fans who are more familiar with the films than the comics and graphic novels might be in for a surprise with Warner Bros. second installment in the DC Extended Universe, Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. This film follows the events of Man of Steel and stars Ben Affleck as Batman (aka Bruce Wayne) and Henry Cavill as Superman (aka Clark Kent) in the first pairing of these two superheroes on-screen. Fearing that Superman’s powers left unchecked, pose a danger, Batman takes on the Man of Steel, exposing a new threat that puts all of mankind in greater danger than ever.

 Superman Wonder Woman Batman

If you’ve managed to lag on your superhero films and comics, I’ve put together 5 Things You Didn’t Know About Batman V Superman.

  1. In addition to featuring both superheroes on-screen for the first time, audiences will see the first live-action portrayals of Wonder Woman, Aquaman and Cyborg.
  2. While inspired by the Batman comic book series “The Dark Knight Returns,” Batman V Superman is an original story.
  3. The idea for Batman V Superman can be traced back to 2001 where Warner Bros. teased a poster for the film in I Am Legend.
  4. Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman are often referred to as The Trinity, but audiences will see them together for the first time on-screen.
  5. The “v” in the title was purposeful and was used to avoid the film being a straight “versus” movie. In the film, Batman’s character will be re-introduced and the stage will be set for development of the Justice League.

Batman V Superman

Both Batman and Superman are iconic, and audiences, both young and old, will want to see the film based on this reason alone. And while my kids aren’t quite ready for this particular film, that didn’t stop us from choosing our favorite superhero on Walmart.com and picking out some awesome movie-inspired items including a shirt that has become my motto:

“Always be yourself, unless you can be Batman. Then always be Batman.”

Walmart has an entire section of Batman V Superman toys that kids will love including capes and cowls for dress-up, the Epic Batmobile, and this Voice Changer Helmet!

Little Superheroes

Their best serious superhero impersonations

Superheroes are often deemed fitting for boys which is why I appreciate that Walmart has an expansive selection of merchandise and apparel for girls. My daughter picked out this adorable Supergirl Tee for just under $8! Some of the other items we liked included a PJ set, a Jogger and Hi Lo Graphic Top Set, and a dress which features a tutu skirt.

You can find Batman V Superman items throughout the store, including some of the older Batman and Superman films in the Entertainment section.

And if you’re hosting a movie night, you could stock up on superhero snacks such as exclusive Rice Krispy Treats and Honey Nut Cheerios.
