It’s Friday night and I’ve run out of dinner ideas (and the energy to even execute one if it came to mind). The person who invented pizza was most certainly a parent! While the dish is simple enough to create at home, I don’t typically house pizza dough in my refrigerator and making the dough from scratch would completely defeat the purpose of my no-cook philosophy on Fridays. That’s when we head to zpizza.
I’m a foodie, even when it comes to pizza, which is why zpizza has become a local favorite of ours. Not only do they offer a bold, fresh, California-inspired menu, they hand-toss their pizzas and then bake them fresh to order. Pizza isn’t necessarily what I would consider a “healthy” dish, but zpizza manages to healthify one of America’s favorite meals by using Certified Organic Tomato Sauce and rBST-free mozzarella. At zpizza, healthy and gourmet can coincide and the result is mouthwatering. And perhaps one of the greatest appeals for our family is the fact that zpizza offers gluten-free and wheat crusts along with Vegan cheese. My son has a food allergy and my mother-in-law cannot tolerate gluten and this is one of the only pizza venues that accommodates both of them.
Earlier this week, our local zpizza invited us to sample two of their brand new menu items: The Buffalo Bleu pizza paired with a Chopped California Cobb Salad. The pizza features all-natural buffalo chicken, gorgonzola cheese, scallions and mozzarella paired with a blend of tomato and buffalo sauce. Unlike traditional Buffalo wings, which I have always found to be too spicy, zpizza manages to capture the “zing” of the Buffalo Chicken without being overwhelmingly spicy (even my daughter ate a slice and she enjoyed it).
The Chopped California Cobb Salad features fresh avocado, all-natural grilled chicken breast, bacon, lettuce, tomato, and gorgonzola paired with a balsamic vinaigrette. The salad is fresh and flavorful and went well with the pizza.
Along with introducing the above new menu items, zpizza is also offering “Take N Bake” pizzas for families to cook at their leisure. Each pizza is made fresh in the kitchen and then baked in your home oven. The Buffalo Bleu pizza is one of the options available as a Take N Bake pizza along with 16 other varieties. Some of our other zpizza favorites include the Greek, California Veggie, and Provence.
