Well, Josh is 5 months old right now, so although he doesn’t speak actual words, he does communicate. He coos and babbles and laughs and fusses and cries. It’s taken me 5 months to decipher what all of this means. His cries have been the most difficult. Sometimes I feel like I’m on a hunt to try to determine if Josh is hungry, bored, wet, dirty, sleepy, wants to be held or just plain fussy. It will be wonderful when he actually speaks! We are already teaching him some basic sign language in order to enhance his communication skills and give him a non-verbal way of communicating his needs. If Josh couldn’t speak for a day, I hope that he would sign!
