As a nurse, I can be a bit neurotic about germs (just ask my husband!). The two areas I seem to be the most concerned with are the kitchen and the bathroom. And rightly so if you saw Oprah’s segment awhile back entitled, Is Your House Making You Sick? Surprise, surprise that the dirtiest place in any house is the kitchen sink. Thus our nightly ritual involves making sure the dishes are clean, food is put away, and the counters are disinfected. We have routinely used Clorox Disinfecting Wipes for this very purpose. They are a quick, easy, effective way to sanitize and disinfect. Admittedly I’ve tried using them on the floor, although it gets a little sticky! I like that I don’t have to go through half a roll of paper towels with some disinfectant I’ve sprayed on the counter, into the air, and into my lungs. With my son crawling and getting into everything, we are extra vigilant about keeping things clean and as germ-free as possible.
Clorox Disinfecting Wipes have gotten even better at wiping up spills and messes AND they’re bleach free! I found that I was able to clean a larger surface area with these thicker, textured wipes. I found them to be particularly effective at getting the stove clean. I used them in and on the microwave, stove, espresso maker (and all my other kitchen appliances), and all over the sink. Their low-streak formula enables you to use them on glass and mirrors (although I didn’t use them for this purpose because I’m saving them for the dirtiest parts of my house!). In four minutes, these wipes will kill 99.9% of germs including Rhinovirus, responsible for colds, and Influenza A2, responsible for the flu. They are also effective against Staphylococcus, Salmonella, and E. Coli bacteria. Check out other areas of the house that could stand a Clorox wipe-down here.
We have been buying Clorox Disinfecting Wipes in bulk at Costco for some time now. Thanks to Clorox and Mom Central we trialed their new lavender scent. I have to admit that I often ask my husband to use the wipes because they are so strong. I actually found that the lavender scent was not as strong or overwhelming and it left a pleasant smell after it had dried. You’ll find these wipes on sale now in the cleaning section of your favorite retailer.

I agree that I want my home environment to be germ-free, but I find myself wondering if spraying/wiping chemicals all over my counters and sinks is any better for my baby. Is ingesting dirt better…or clorox? There’s got to be a better way…
Just my “two cents.” 🙂
