If you’re an avid Pixar fan, you likely know that each film includes references to previous, or in some instances, upcoming Pixar films. Sometimes it’s a reference to a character in another Pixar film/short, an object, a company or a tradition. Often referred to as easter eggs, certain things such as A113, the Pizza Planet Truck and actor John Ratzenberger have appeared in most of Pixar’s films.
The first time I saw Brave, I completely missed all of these references, because I was engrossed in the visuals, music, and story. In fact, I had no idea where to look. Fortunately, I was given the hint that all “easter eggs” were in one scene…the witch’s cottage.
The first is a carved figurine of the Pizza Planet truck. The vehicle has appeared in nearly every full-length Pixar film since 1995’s Toy Story.
The second is a carving of Sulley, the infamous blue monster who will return in 2013 for Monsters University.
The third is Gordon, the guard, voiced by John Ratzenberger who has played a role in every Pixar film.
Lastly, the Macintosh’s share the same name as Apple’s computers.
One unique fact I learned while reading Wikipedia is that in Cars 2, there is a chase scene that takes place in London. When the Lemons crash into the pub, there is a tapestry on the wall which depicts Princess Merida and her family as cars.
