As a young woman, you’d often find me at the theater on opening day for a highly anticipated, Oscar-contending film. These days, I’m lucky if I’ve seen even one of the current films nominated for an Academy Award. This Sunday marks the 87th annual awards ceremony, which celebrates the best cinematic achievements in the film industry. Admittedly, I’ve seen just of the 8 films nominated for Best Picture, but this weekend, that is about to change!
If you’ve not had time to make it to the theater in anticipation of the Oscars, VUDU at Walmart is the place to see films like American Sniper (which is fantastic!) and The Theory of Everything. This digital video on demand service makes it easy and affordable to watch movies and TV shows via the internet on your device of choice. Rather than paying for a subscription, each movie can either be rented or purchased and then watched immediately. Supported devices include your laptop computer, iPhone or Android smart phone (via the app), Smart TV, internet-connected DVD/Blu-ray player, Roku, PlayStation 3/4, Xbox 360 or One and more. Once you’ve found the movie you’d like to watch, confirm that it is available on the device of choice, submit payment for your rental or purchase, and begin watching from the comfort of your home (or on an airplane like I did this week!).
If you’re looking for this year’s Oscar nominees, VUDU has made it easy by providing access to these films as well as previous winners at VUDU.com/Oscars. You can also search for films in other nominated categories such as Best Animated Film and films featuring Best Actor and Best Actress Nominees. Some of the films can be rented for as little as 99 cents! Films that are not yet released on Blu-ray/DVD are initially only available for purchase but will be available for rent post-release.
