No art passes our conscience in the way film does, and goes directly to our feelings, deep down into the dark rooms of our souls – Ingmar Bergman
Even as a very young girl, I remember sitting with my family to watch films like Gone With the Wind and Breakfast at Tiffany’s. When I finally scored a job at the young age of 16, some of my hard-earned dollars went towards purchasing classics on sale at our local Blockbuster. My love for film grew and over time, I found myself eagerly anticipating the latest theatrical release, vowing to see it on opening day.
2012 was a fantastic year for Walt Disney Studios, and I’m honored that in some small way, I was able to be a part of it. Reflecting on the year’s successes, I felt like the studio really offered a complete cinematic experience for the film-lover in all of us.
While I would say that Disney/Pixar’s Brave was the film I most anticipated, Wreck-It Ralph was the most surprising with regards to humor and heart. The Secret World of Arrietty was the most visually surprising (and spectacular) film, Frankenweenie was the most unique. Lincoln inspired me to want to go out and make a difference while Marvel’s the Avengers kept me on the edge of my seat with excitement.
The studio just released their 2013 movie slate, and all I can say is that it’s going to “so totally rock!” Just from this early sneak peek at the year ahead, I can say that I’m most excited about Oz the Great and Powerful, Frozen, Iron Man 3, Monsters University, and Saving Mr. Banks. What are you looking forward to in 2013?
