Walmart Introduces Pay With Cash…An Alternative For Online Shopping

Posted by Caryn Bailey Leave a Comment

Before the internet became what it is today, I enjoyed the weekly shopping trips with my mother.  We’d shop for everything from groceries and household supplies to shoes and apparel.  When I became a parent, I dreaded going shopping, particularly when my daughter became old enough to exercise her independence by climbing out of the cart/stroller to run around the stores.  I primarily shop online out of convenience.  If I can obtain the same deals online that I can in-store, why wouldn’t I shop online?

Online shopping has grown significantly, yet there is a substantial percentage of people who do not shop online because they either don’t own a credit/debit card or refuse to use it for security purposes. Recognizing that no feasible option existed for those desiring the same conveniences and web-exclusive products and sales, Walmart introduced Pay With Cash.

The program offers all of the conveniences of shopping online, including an expansive selection of items and internet-only specials.  So how do you place an order through Pay With Cash?

1.  Add item(s) to your online cart

2.  Select your preferred shipping method (home/business address or Site to Store)

3.  Bring confirmation to your local Walmart store within 48 hours and pay for item(s).

4. Pick up item or wait for it to be delivered to your preferred address.

I decided to test out the service by selecting a food processor.  After browsing the kitchen appliances, I found a 10 cup Black & Decker food processor that I liked.  Unfortunately, the only two options were Pick Up Today (which doesn’t offer a Pay With Cash option) or ship to my home.  I opted to have the processor delivered to me.

The entire process was mostly seamless.  I went into the store, paid for my item, and was sent  a confirmation regarding payment and expected ship date.  Pay With Cash is a convenient way to reap the benefits and conveniences without the use of a credit or debit card. Here is what I’d love to see

1.  Signage on those online items eligible for Pay With Cash

2.  Pay With Cash option for items available for Pick Up Today

Here is my quick video review showing the steps needed to purchase an item via Pay With Cash
