VTech’s Switch & Go Dinos

Posted by Caryn Bailey Leave a Comment

Cars that go fast…

Endless tiny “bricks” to build and create…

Superhero capes and action figures…

My son is all boy and it’s evident in the way he plays.  Sometime in the last year, he went from playing with more gender-neutral, preschool toys to what I would consider “big kid” toys.  I can see how much he loves a challenge, so despite the fact that some of his toys have a gazillion pieces, I am ok with them as I know the wheels of his creative mind are turning.

For kids around my son’s age, play is an integral component of learning. VTech understands the importance of combining education and play and has created a line of products that support this. The company’s latest innovation is their new Switch & Go Dinos. These electronic transforming toys can easily be switched back and forth between a vehicle and a dinosaur.

My son loves to figure things out, so when we received Brok, Span, and Attila, he immediately got to work, identifying all the ways these toys transform. VTech has taken two things children (particularly boys) enjoy, dinosaurs and vehicles, and combined them into a 2-in-1 toy that provides endless, imaginative play. Additionally, these seven dinos feature an LCD screen for customizable animations.  When this toy is in dino mode, children will hear interesting facts about each dinosaur.  As a parent, I appreciate this incorporation of education into the toy.

While these Switch & Go Dinos are targeted towards children between the ages of 3 and 8, I definitely think that children at the upper limit or even a bit older will enjoy playing with them. My son didn’t have a difficult time transforming the dinosaurs into a vehicle and vice versa, however, I felt like they still provided enough of a challenge for him to stay engaged.

We’ve never owned a transforming toy so we don’t have anything to compare these too, however, we love the size, durability, and interactive play that they offer children.

I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for VTech. I received VTech Switch & Go Dinos product samples to facilitate my review.
