This Valentine’s Day is probably one of the most unique to date. We’ve just come from an incredible weekend away where we dined more lavishly than I can remember and stayed at a hotel we typically could not afford. While my husband and I always recognize the day of love, we tend to be quite practical with regards to celebrating it. I am not the gal that needs red roses or fancy dinners on Valentine’s Day. A thoughtful card and perhaps some store-bought chocolates are typically enough.
My son loves when we open packages at our home, and as soon as I opened up the latest which housed 3 new chocolate gifts from Ghirardelli, he recognized the famous San Francisco Chocolate Company. Fortunately, you don’t have to travel to San Francisco to enjoy the company’s premium chocolates.
If you love caramel, Ghirardelli’s new Caramel Trio Heart Tin is the perfect way to enjoy different varieties of filled chocolates. New and exclusively found at Walmart, the tin features Milk and Dark Chocolates filled with Caramel and Dark Chocolates filled with Sea Salt Caramel (my husband’s favorite). Although the chocolates come in a heart-shaped tin, I can see this gift being given to children, friends, and family members.
I am not typically a fan of caramel because of it’s sweetness but I found that I really enjoyed the combination of dark chocolate and sea salt caramel, each of which balanced the other out. Once you’ve finished the chocolates, you can reuse the tin. The Caramel Trio Heart Tin retails for $9.98.
My favorite of Ghirardelli’s new products is the Sweet Hearts Chocolates Box, new this season and available at Walmart for $9.98. I love the elegant presentation of these chocolates and the unique flavors that are included. Of the four flavors included (Chocolate Hazelnut Cream with Toffee Bits, Milk Chocolate Filled with Caramel Cream, Chocolate Almond Cream, and Dark Chocolate filled With Cacao Nibs in Cream), the last is my favorite. I am a dark chocoholic and I love the inclusion of the Cacao Nibs. Because the chocolates themselves are so beautifully designed, you might consider using them to accent your favorite dessert. Ghirardelli offers several Valentine’s Day recipes on their website.
Because I tend to be a purist when it comes to chocolate, I wasn’t sure that I would enjoy the White Chocolate with Vanilla Beans and Dark Chocolate with Strawberry Filling squares that make up the Valentine’s Duo Bag available exclusively at Walmart. Surprisingly I enjoyed each variety although I needed to exercise restraint with the dark chocolate/strawberry squares because they are seriously delicious. Each square is individually wrapped which means they can easily be separated out into smaller gifts for children. The Valentine’s Duo Bag retails for $3.28 but is only available for a limited time.
