In my 20s, I was the girl who would purchase a new outfit several times a month to stay on trend with the latest in fashion. Admittedly, having kids now compels me to purchase beautiful henley dresses for my daughter and smart chinos for my son over sundresses, suits or stilettos. I love to “dress up,” but my work-life schedule often finds me sporting jeans, a tank and a pair of platform sandals. With Summer right around the corner, I was challenged by Walmart to showcase their summer apparel assortment, so I decided to do what was unnatural for me and shop for myself!
Unlike most of the country at this time, our summer warm-up is often slow, so dresses are the ideal wardrobe staple for day and nighttime events and activities during the summer. I was pleasantly surprised at how diverse and trendy Walmart’s dress selection is, particularly online. Maxi dresses in a variety of prints and styles are abundant, but you’ll also find layered dresses, skater dresses, convertible dresses and more, all of which would make a statement at your next summer gathering.
After debating on several different styles, I finally decided to purchase Faded Glory’s Belted Maxi Dress in Red Rover. Beyond the unbeatable price of $12.94, the dress is gorgeous and flattering. I could easily find myself comfortably wearing it for both casual or more formal summer get-togethers. Available in 4 different colors, this dress is fitted on top and flares beautifully to the floor. I personally liked the addition of the crochet belt, which offers the perfect color juxtaposition to have it stand out. The polyester blend still feels cool enough to wear when the days get long and hot in August.
Since a great pair of shoes makes an outfit, I picked up a comfortable, stylish pair of Cross-Strap Wedge Sandals from Faded Glory. Truthfully, I’m always surprise at how much I end up loving the women’s shoes I buy at my local Walmart. I still find myself wearing the Dress Boots I purchased last Fall with everything from blue jeans to tapered skirts. But I digressed! These wedge sandals are ultra-comfy thanks to their elastic cross strap and the supportive wedge sole. These shoes are currently available in black and tan, however, I can easily see these being popular in colors to accent dresses, skirts and dressy pants.
