My daughter was born 5 days before Christmas, and every year, our challenge is to make the day of her birth and the day of Jesus’ birth uniquely memorable. Admittedly, that first year was spent simply enjoying our new baby girl, and our gift giving efforts were primarily directed at my son, who was 2 at the time. In retrospect, I realize that her first Christmas was as important as every one that followed.
As you shop this holiday season, I encourage you to think about the babies in your life. Every Christmas, particularly his/her first, is unique, special and deserving of recognition. Inspire by Walmart’s newly vamped baby department, I’m sharing my top gifts for babies ages 0-2.
1. Board books: Opt for books that are vibrant and colorful and contain simple vocabulary. My kids also enjoyed books with textures and embellishments, which helped develop their sense of touch
2. Imaginative toys: Simple toys that begin sparking imagination should top any list for infants and tots.
3. Activity Center: Once a baby can hold his/her head up, an activity center can help expand their world. Find an activity center that is highly rated, safety tested, and includes music and sounds.
4. Clothing: Even from day one, my kids were dressed fashionably. Find outfits that show off your baby’s cuteness while still remaining comfortable.
5. Bedding: Personalize your infant’s room with colorful bedding, like this Sweet Tweet 3-Piece Crib Bedding Set from Pinwheel, available at Walmart for $24.99. Featuring a reversible comforter, a fitted crib sheet, and a dust ruffle, this particular set would brighten an infant girl’s room up throughout the seasons. The cotton/polyester blend ensures ultimate comfort.
