It’s a not-so-typical day in the Bailey household. I’m cutting fabric for my very first attempt at making my daughter a Halloween costume while my son types out his Christmas wish list on his iPad. Christmas…in October. We haven’t even finished carving the pumpkin or stringing the pumpkin lights I literally just untangled. But I digressed. My son has a few very specific (i.e. insanely popular) items on his wish list and admittedly, if I don’t begin shopping soon they may end up becoming birthday presents and that wouldn’t be good for anyone since his birthday is in June.

I never struggle with shopping for my kids, since they typically know what they want even before I’ve had an opportunity to research what’s trending. But shopping for the friends and family in my life is difficult.  It’s important that the gifts I give have meaning, and this year, I’m dabbling in the art of experiential giving. During Walmart’s Chosen By You event in Dallas this Summer, adults and kids converged to provide honest feedback and those items they loved and would like to gift and received this holiday season. Every category was represented including toys, electronics, apparel and home appliances.
