‘Tis the Season To Be Baking..For A Cookie Exchange *Giveaway

Posted by Caryn Bailey 129 Comments

This giveaway is now closed. Thanks for stopping by. The winner is Nan. Congrats!

This week, I’ll be participating in a cookie exchange with some friends and local bloggers.  A cookie exchange is a great way to try a variety of cookies without having to spend a lot of time in the kitchen.  While it’s a great way to get friends and family together during the holiday season, I like cookie exchanges for the new recipes I typically discover.  I’m very traditional and my favorite cookie to bake is chocolate chip.  But if you’re looking to bake a more festive cookie, check out the recipes on Bake Sweet Memories.  I found a yummy recipe for Peppermint Candy Cookies:

Ingredients

1 pouch (1 lb 1.5 oz) Betty Crocker sugar cookie mix

1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened

1 egg

1/4 cup Gold Medal® all-purpose flour

1 container (12 oz) Betty Crocker Whipped fluffy white frosting

1 teaspoon peppermint extract

Red sugar

Directions

  1. Heat oven to 375°F. In large bowl, stir cookie mix, butter, egg and flour until dough forms. Roll dough into 1 1/4-inch balls. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Flatten slightly with bottom of glass.
  2. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until edges are light golden brown. Cool 1 minute; remove from cookie sheet to wire rack. Cool completely, about 20 minutes.
  3. In small bowl, mix frosting and peppermint extract. Spread each cookie with frosting. Using small spoon, sprinkle red sugar onto cookies in spiral design to look like peppermint candies.

Along with an assortment of delicious holiday cookie recipes, Bake Sweet Memories offers How To Videos and Cookie Exchange Party Tips. You can also play the new Sweet Memories game for a chance to instantly win free Betty Crocker products.  Here are a couple of tips from the site:

Make Holiday Cookies and Tags:  Everyone should bake enough so that each participant gets one dozen of each kind of cookie.  Attach cookie tags to each tray for easy identification.

Wrap and Decorate Cookie Trays:  Plastic or metal holiday trays can be wrapped with red or green plastic wrap and adorned with a colorful ribbon.  Alternately, you can store and transport cookies in GladWare’s Glad Food Storage containers. These super sturdy containers have Interlocking Lids for easy, compact stacking.  They also have a tight seal to lock in freshness and can be used in the microwave, freezer, and dishwasher.

Right now, you can download a coupon for Betty Crocker Cookie Pouches at Safeway.com.

Win It! One of you will win a Happy Holiday Treats” prize pack that includes a package of Betty Crocker Sugar Cookie Mix, a GladWare sample pack and a $25 Safeway gift card (also valid at Dominick´s, Tom Thumb, Randalls, Vons, and Genuardi´s).  Simply leave a comment with your favorite recipe from the Bake Sweet Memories site.

Comments will close on December 24th, 2010 at 11:59 PM PST.  US Residents only.  Duplicates and comments not including the above information will be disqualified. Comments are moderated. If you don’t see your comment in a reasonable amount of time, send me an email. Bloggers and non-bloggers may enter.
