5 Tips For Planning Your Holiday Meal

Holiday meal planning is an essential part of the holiday. I know. The first year I attempted to single-handedly cook our family’s entire Thanksgiving meal proved to be more challenging than I had anticipated. It’s nearly impossible to ensure all of the dishes are prepared and ready at the same time without a few extra sets of hands and Martha Stewart’s kitchen. I always prefer a freshly-prepared meal over leftovers, but in this instance, I found myself warming up vegetables and rolls prior to our holiday meal to ensure everything was piping hot.

Planning Your Holiday Meal Makes it Easier

Holiday meals are often the center of a family’s celebration. In order to ensure that this time with family is memorable and stress-free, here are 5 tips for planning your holiday meal.

  1. Think beyond the process of cooking a meal. Build in time for gathering recipes (particularly if you plan to use Pinterest), shopping for ingredients, designing your holiday tablescape, and cooking each dish.
  2. Begin planning and prepping your holiday meal before Thanksgiving. Don’t wait until Thanksgiving Day to cook all of your dishes. Think about those dishes ,such as dessert, that can be prepped 1-2 days in advance of your Thanksgiving Meal.
  3. Get help. Whether you’re having an intimate gathering of close family, or a larger celebration with friends and extended family, consider asking invitees to bring a side dish or an appetizer to help with the holiday meal.
  4. Have snacks and hors d’oeuvres on-hand. This will help tide guests (particularly the tiniest of guests) over until your holiday meal is ready to be served.
  5. Cook smarter. Most families don’t have the space to accommodate more than one range. However, cooking a large meal such as Thanksgiving Dinner ideally requires multiple avenues to cook dishes. The LG ProBake Convection Oven features 5 burners, ideal for dishes like soup or vegetables that can be boiled, steamed, or sautéed on the stove. The large capacity of this oven makes it easy to prepare more than one dish at a time. And if any of your dishes is ready before the rest of the meal,  just place them in the warming drawer. Another feature that will help ensure holiday meal success is the LG ProBake Convection Oven’s GoCook smart oven light. With the light and the range’s WideView Window, you’ll be ale to focus on more complex dishes while the GoCook smart oven light and WideView window monitor your dish.
