If you missed the Orange County Fair or haven’t got your fill of cotton candy, carousels and concerts, don’t miss the L.A. County Fair which kicks off this weekend in Pomona. So what’s new and exciting this year at the fair?
- Our Body: The Universe Within
- L.A. In Ice: A Frozen Exhibit
- Lifehouse (they may not be “new” but they’re definitely exciting)
- 50 kinds of pre-packaged candy apples (YUM!)
- Whoopie pies (YUM…again!)
- Photo Lounge
The fair offers something for the entire family. From animals and rides to shopping and food, I know we’ll find it difficult to fit everything into one day. Which is why you should check out their promotions. This weekend, the fair opens for Labor Day and will offer the following:
Admission –$1, 10 a.m. – 1. p.m., regular admission rates apply after 1 p.m.
1 p.m. to closing $17 (ages 13+)
1 p.m. to closing $12 (ages 6-12)
Beverages – $1 for 22 oz. soft drinks at all food and beverage stands, 1 – 4 p.m.
Carnival – $1 rides, games and select food and beverage items, in the carnival, 4–7p.m.
Be sure to check your local Ralph’s, McDonald’s, and Costco for savings and coupons.

I always look forward to looking at the booths relating to home — quilting, canning, etc.

My son told me he wants to go and try all the deep fried foods they have to offer-me I love the gardening displays
I like the quilts and other needlework entries. I’m amazed by the creativity shown each year.
As usual, I will admire the cake decorations entries. One of my friends usually qualifies.
I like the animals, especially the pigs!
