The Great Shark Affaire

As you know, I am passionate about the environment.  Together, my husband and I encourage and remind each other to reduce, reuse, and recycle re-purpose. This weekend, we’re heading to Long Beach for The Great Shark Affaire.  This is the first of a series of public events that will focus on the importance of eco-systems in our oceans.  This weekend, attendees will learn about the crucial role sharks play in their eco-systems and what we can do to protect and preserve them.

Here is what you can expect this weekend:

  • Educational & instructional booths to teach kids – by way of art, crafts, music & games – more about sharks and our oceans.
  • The Long Beach  Aquarium of the Pacific will delight you with their famous interactive exhibits
  • Live Entertainment on 2 stages all day long!
  • Giant inflatable attractions to provide physical activities for the kids
  • Carnival games, contests & “Dunk the Smartie Pants” Shark game!
  • Mobile attractions such as Face painting, kite flying, etc.
  • Separate food area serving a HUGE variety of kid-favorite food & bevvies
  • The Fire Department will talk about ocean water safety, CPR and other life-saving techniques
  • Pro VolleyBall athletes & celebrities will do a volleyball exhibition and a fun way for kids to learn to play beach volleyball
  • Professor Ray Manta, our very own shark expert, will be strolling around to answer ANY & ALL shark-related questions
  • Grady, our shark mascot will be available for fun & photos!
  • Shop from hundreds of eco-friendly and creative product tents
  • Live Music from the ORIGINAL performers of the ALL-TIME BEST Beach Music in history!
  • Shop from booths offering a variety of eco-friendly toys, crafts, clothing and water sports items
  • Food, Food, Food! From Pizza to Crepes to hand-made ice cream sanadwiches. Yummm!
  • Pouring bars all over the place so you can enjoy a beer or a nice glass of wine
  • Surprise celebrity appearances
  • Silent + live auctions
  • Body Glove product demo’s

The Great Shark Affaire will take place on Saturday October 2nd and Sunday October 3rd from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm at Rainbow Lagoon Park in Long Beach, CA.  Tickets are $15 and can be purchased online via Ticketmaster.

    This sounds like such a wonderful event, I wish I was close enough to go. I love sea creatures and learning all about their life and what we can do to help preserve the oceans. That is why I’m glad we are so close to SeaWorld.

      I’ve never been to that SeaWorld but I adore the one in San Diego…..
