The Bible Mini Series Premieres on The History Channel

Posted by Caryn Bailey Leave a Comment

Earlier this week, after grocery shopping with my kids at an hour that should only be reserved for sleeping, I realized that I had managed to walk out without paying for my cream cheese.  With my kids still fast asleep, I quickly ran in to pay for the item, but not before the cashier stated, “there aren’t many people like you left in this world.”  I paused to think about what he said.  I never really even thought twice about the situation because in my mind, that’s just what you do.
While I don’t talk about it nearly as often as I should, my faith is integral to who I am.  We attend church as a family, read The Bible together, serve others, and pray.  It is because of the things I’ve learned in church and in The Bible that I can approach situations like the one earlier this week and know without hesitation what the right thing to do is.  Now…to teach my children! : )
The Bible
Two weeks ago, the History Channel debuted a brand new 10-episode TV series on the History Channel called The Bible.  The miniseries was produced by husband/wife team Mark Burnett (The Voice, Survivor) and Roma Downey (Touched by an Angel) who also plays the role of Mary in the film.  For many, the stories will be familiar, yet this new series is exciting, compelling, and incredibly moving.  My kids are still a bit young to handle some of the themes, I think the series offers families a starting point for talking about these stories and about faith and Christianity.  We already pre-ordered the mini series on DVD because it’s something I’d like to watch in the future with our family as my children get older.
The Bible Mini Series

If you haven’t been watching, I highly encourage you to tune in this Sunday, March 17th, 2013 at 8 pm EST.  You can also pre-order the series on Blu-ray or DVD, like I did, if you missed any of the episodes.  Right now, you’ll save 50% at Walmart so this is a great time to order it if you’re thinking about it.  And, if you pre-order at Walmart, you’ll receive an exclusive Digital HD copy of the Bible and a “First Look” of the 10 episodes on Vudu.  Walmart also sells 3 companion books titled A Story of God and All of Us: A Novel Based on the Epic Miniseries “The Bible”, A Story of God and All of Us Young Readers Edition: A Novel Based on the Epic TV Miniseries “The Bible”, A Story of God and All of Us Reflections: 100 Daily Inspirations Based on the Epic TV Miniseries “The Bible”
