Saturday mornings in our family typically include a leisurely, late-morning brunch. Sometimes, we’ll find ourselves at one of the breakfast hot spots in our town, but more often I find myself baking pumpkin chocolate bread, vegetarian omelets, or chocolate chip pancakes. I love to be in the kitchen, particularly when the meal I’m endeavoring includes breakfast. Our family has a handful of dishes we love, but I’m always looking for inspiration when it comes to flavors and ingredients.
This week, that inspiration is coming from Chef Bobby Flay as he debuts his latest cookbook, Brunch @ Bobby’s. Much like our family, brunch is Flay’s favorite meal and the inspiration for this book which features 140 recipes. From morning drinks that include everything from spiked and virgin cocktails to coffees and teas, to eggs, pancakes, waffles, pastries, and French toast, this book will give you enough inspiration to last through the new year.
I personally appreciate that Flay has taken traditional dishes like pancakes and omelets and added inspired new flavors and his own personal touch. Stand-out recipes include a Sangria Sunrise, Tarte Flambe, Carrot Cake Pancakes with Maple-Cream Cheese Drizzle, Sautéed Bitter Green Omelets, and a Wild Mushroom-Yukon Gold Hash.
You likely know Bobby Flay from the Food Network, where he hosts a number of shows including Bobby Flay’s Barbecue Addiction, Iron Chef America, Throwdown! with Bobby Flay, Food Network Star and Brunch @ Bobby’s. Flay is also the owner of five fine-dining restaurants including Gato, Bar Americain, Mesa Grill and Bobby Flay Steak as well as Bobby’s Burger Palaces and a New York Times bestselling author.
Brunch @ Bobby’s is now available at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Books-A-Million, iBooks and IndieBound.
