As one of only four musicals in Broadway history to win the “Big Six” Tony Awards, I cannot begin to express my excitement about The Band’s Visit, which will perform at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts from March 22nd through April 3rd, 2022. Based on the 2007 film of the same name, The Band’s Visit will move and inspire audiences this Spring.
The Band’s Visit
The Band’s Visit tells the joyful, offbeat story of a band of musicians who arrive in the town of Bet Hativka after getting lost and end up way off the beaten path. Under the spell of the desert sky, with beautiful music filling the air, the band brings the town to life in unexpected ways as even the briefest visit can stay with you forever.
With music and lyrics by Tony and Drama Desk Award-winner David Yazbek, The Band’s Visit features a score that will seduce your soul and sweep you off your feet. Performed by incredibly talented onstage musicians, The Band’s Visit rejoices in the way music makes people laugh, cry, and ultimately bring them together.
The Band’s Visit won Best Musical, Best Book, Best Score, Best Actor in a Musical, Best Actress in a Musical, and Best Direction of a Musical.
