This weekend, I get the privilege of hosting a Suave Style party complete with a celebrity stylist! I tried Suave’s Professionals line of hair products when they first launched and spent some time with the reps during BlogHer. The Professionals line has been proven to work as well as salon brands. The good news is that you don’t have to go to a salon to purchase the line and it’s more cost effective than salon brands. It’s a new year and perhaps you’re like me and need a new ‘do! After having a baby, it’s time for me to start looking and feeling more like my non-pregnant self. I’m excited to see what our stylist does with all of us (stay tuned!).
I just finished watching the Golden Globes (which I recorded on DVR) and oohed and aahed at all the glitz and glamour of Hollywood’s most prominent actresses. Thanks to Suave and celebrity hair stylist Luke O’Connor (consultant and spokesperson for Suave), I have some easy tips to share with you on how you can re-create some of Hollywood’s hottest styles from the evening.
THE LOOK: Old Hollywood Glam Waves
ACTRESS: Penelope Cruz (gorgeous pictures here)
To re-create at home:
o Wash and condition hair with Suave Professionals Vibrant Shine Shampoo and Conditioner.
o Apply Suave Professionals Extra Hold Styling Foam to towel dried hair to create body.
o Take a dime size amount of Suave Professionals Extra Hold Gel and apply along the hairline.
o Part hair on the side and blowdry the top back and over to the side, leaving the remaining hair slick to the head.
o Take a 1.25-inch curling iron and spiral wrap two-inch sections to create large waves throughout the whole head of hair.
o For the structured wave off the face, take the front hair and wrap forward around the curling iron to give lift on top, keeping the hair off of the face.
o Seal hair in place with Suave Professionals Freeze Hold Hairspray.
THE LOOK: Volumninous Tuck
ACTRESS: Tina Fey (fabulous pictures here)
To re-create at home:
o Use Suave Professionals Volumizing Shampoo and Conditioner in the shower.
o Apply Suave Professionals Volumizing Root Lifter Spray Gel to the roots on towel-dried hair.
o Blowdry the hair smooth and straight.
o Use a medium round brush to achieve side swept bangs.
o Back comb (tease) a three-quarter to one-inch base over the whole head to create added volume.
o Gather the hair into a center ponytail two to three inches below the crown and secure with an elastic band.
o Tease the ponytail wide and spread out as much as possible. Then, lightly brush the surface of the hair to smooth out.
o Spray the hair with Suave Professionals Extra Hold Hairspray.
o Gather the ends and pull under to the base of the elastic and pin to secure.
THE LOOK: Classic French Twist
ACTRESS: Drew Barrymore (glamorous pictures here)
To re-create at home:
o Shampoo and condition hair with the Suave Professionals Sleek line.
o Apply a dime size amount of Suave Professionals Sleek Anti-Frizz Cream and comb through the hair. Create a high side part and blowdry hair smooth and straight.
o Take a dime size amount of Suave Extra Hold Styling Gel and run it through the dry hair for extra hold and shine.
o Brush both sides of the hair back to the low center. Start twisting the hair, holding close to the head and lift as it twists. Use hairpins to pin at the seam of the hair.
o Tuck the exposed hair tips back into the center of the twist.
o Finish the look with Suave Professionals Freeze Hold Hairspray.
If you’re curious to see how the celebrity stylist I chose for my upcoming party transforms my guests and I, be sure to come back after the event next week.
